Maatter
마터(Maatter)는 세계, 자연, 물질을 포괄하는 ‘Matter’에서 착안한 이름입니다. 다양한 매체를 다루는 미술가 박보마의 향 작업에서 시작된 마터는 아로마테라피, 이미지와 장면, 감정 같은 추상을 향을 중심으로 색, 소리, 텍스트의 공감각으로 풀어냅니다. 음양오행과 차크라의 인사이트를 아우르며 조각되는 마터의 블렌드는 스피릿추얼리티에서 구상의 세계까지 조망하여 그 어떤 향보다 정신적인 동시에 감각적입니다.
마터는 자체 인사이트를 적용한 ‘마터 개인 분위기 차트 서비스’를 개시하며, 2023년 3월부터 플러터 제품을 하나씩 선보여왔습니다. 또한, 타 브랜드 제품과 분위기에 맞춘 향 디자인, 작품 및 전시와의 협업 서비스를 지속하고 있습니다.
Maatter is named after “Matter,” a word that encompasses the world, nature, and materiality. Originating from the olfactory practice of artist boma pak, whose work spans various media, Maatter reinterprets abstractions—such as aromatherapy, imagery, and emotion—into scent, interwoven with color, sound, and text through a sensory and synesthetic approach. Each blend is carefully composed using insights from the Five Elements and chakra systems, offering a perspective that bridges spirituality and the material realm. As a result, Maatter’s fragrances are uniquely both mental and sensual.
Since launching the “Maatter Personal Atmosphere Chart” service—developed from our proprietary insight system—Maatter has been steadily introducing fragrances from the Flutter collection since March 2023. We also continue to offer bespoke scent design services in collaboration with brands, environments, artworks, and exhibitions.

이 서비스는 명리, 차크라를 기반으로 30여가지 에센셜 오일과 함께 상담을 진행한 후 마터만의 인사이트를 통해 개인의 분위기를 향, 색, 질감, 온도 등으로 해석하고 이를 차트로 완성하는 서비스입니다. 2023년 한 해 동안 진행한 이 서비스는 현재 종료되었지만, 마터의 정수를 담고 있으며 보다 체계적으로 선보이기 위해 새로운 프로그램을 준비하고 있습니다.
Maatter Personal Atmosphere Chart Service
This service combines consultations based on Eastern destiny analysis (Myeongri) and chakras with over 30 essential oils. Using Maatter's unique insights, we interpret an individual's ambience through fragrance, color, texture, temperature, and more, culminating in a comprehensive chart. Although this service ran throughout 2023 and has since concluded, it embodies the essence of Maatter, and we are preparing a new program to present it in a more systematic way.

마터는 타 브랜드의 제품과 분위기에 맞는 향을 디자인 하고, 작품이나 전시와 협업하는 서비스를 이어오고 있습니다. 전시를 위한 조향 작업, 트위드를 소재로한 하이엔드 의류 브랜드의 소재별 향 제작, 코스메틱, 빈티지 의류 브랜드를 위한 이미지 조향 등의 작업을 진행하였습니다.
Maatter Official Atmosphere Service
Maatter continues to offer services that design fragrances tailored to the products and ambiance of other brands, as well as collaborations with artworks and exhibitions. We have undertaken scent creation for exhibition installations, developed material-specific fragrances for a high-end tweed clothing brand, crafted image-oriented fragrances for a vintage clothing brand, and designed scents for a cosmetic brand, among other projects.
